L Shaped Cleated Belt Conveyor
An automotive parts manufacturer required an inclined portable conveyor to convey urethane mounts used in automotive suspension systems. The parts are conveyed to a vibratory feed system for manual quality control inspection and weighing. Parts are then repackaged into pallet boxes and smaller containers. Working closely with the distributor and the end user, LEWCO, Inc. designed and manufactured custom designed L Shaped Cleated Belt Conveyors. As shown in the photograph, the conveyors are portable using six 4" casters; two fixed and four swivel with brakes. Modified LEWCO SPH (upper support) and SPHH supports (lower supports) with caster channels are used. Parts are dumped into the hopper on the infeed. They are then conveyed at a 45 degree angle 54" inches to the top of the conveyor at 60 FPM. The 24" wide white rigid belt with 2" high cleats on 18" centers is driven with a ¾ HP motor. The belt is held in place at the 45 degree inside angle with ten roller belt guides, five per side.

Portable Production Line Feeder
To provide a mobile material handling solution that would bypass existing automation, LEWCO applied mods 128 and 337 to a standard conveyor application. The conveyor application consists of two units, the first being a BDLR19 with mod 128 and adding a mobility kit. The second unit is a 45 degree MDTLRC (catalog pages 128-129) with drive and mods 337 and 136 to add a mobility kit, an additional slave-driven 45 degree curve, a three foot tangent section, and a pull action locking clamp that joins the two units during operation. The double offset conveyor construction with mobility kits and the pull action locking clamp allow for the conveyor to be set-up for production, then detached and stored separately; a perfect solution for a short run semi-automatic press feeding application.
